Some women suffered an irregular menstrual cycle. This condition is called Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome. Here are some natural ways to regulate menstrual cycle.
Apple Cider Vinegar.Taking in the amount of 1-2 tsp of apple cider vinegar before a meal will do the job. In the beginning, you may not notice a change right away. It takes 1-6 months for most women to notice a change in their menstrual cycles. However, most women may notice a change right away. If the vinegar is too strong for you, you may start with a lower dose and increase it later as you get used to it as the days progress. You may increase your dose as well, but never exceed more than 3 tsp at one seating or 10 tsp in one day atleast advised by a physician. Apple Cider vinegar works because it works as a natural remedy for increasing insulin activity, therefore lowering blood sugar. With PCOS, insulin resistance is the main factor.
Vitex/Chasteberry. Vitex or chasteberry is a natural herb that is used to treat the pancreas. The pancreas is responsible for secreting hormones into the body. Vitex may be effective in regulating a woman’s menstrual cycle, because it will stimulate the pancreas to release more/less of certain hormones to create a balance. With insulin resistance and PCOS, there is a form of hormonal imbalance, therefore un-regulating the menstrual cycle. Vitex/chasteberry is usually taken 2-3 times a day in pill form with an eight ounce glass of water.
D-chiro Inositol. Inositol is a very powerful chemical. It acts as a messenger to insulin. With PCOS, insulin may become unresponsive and start to free-float in the blood. D-chiro inositol sends the message to insulin receptors to go into the cells and provide energy for the body. This alone can regulate the menstrual cycle if you have PCOS by increasing insulin sensitivity. This chemical may also lower testosterone levels and blood pressure.
Exercise.Exercise is the word that most people hate to hear, but it is a powerful weapon when it comes to disease and dysfunction in your body. Getting atleast 30 minutes to an hour of activity may regulate your menstrual cycle and increase insulin sensitivity. You may even lose some weight along the way. Although exercise is great, do not overdo it. Too much exercise has been known to increase testosterone levels which may counter-react to PCOS and make your symptoms worse.
Cinnamon.Cinnamon may be taken in whole or in ground form to help regulate your menstrual cycle. You could also have a little fun with it. You could try cinnamon on top of your snacks. Cinnamon is recommended to be taken with every meal and snack. Cinnamon is also high in fiber which is a plus! Taking 1-3 tbsp at every meal is recommended. It may take 3-6 months to see any improvement in menstrual cycles for most women with PCOS or quite sooner for some.
The above products could be found at your local health food store. Many women use more than one natural product to combat PCOs and regulate their menstrual cycles. However, before mixing any two products together, be sure to consult your doctor. Remember, when dealing with natural products, it may not improve your health right away. Be patient and give them time. Within a few months, you could get your menses back on track!
